What are the dimensions of the silk created by Mizpah Silk?

All the silk cloth we produce at Mizpah Silk is handmade on handlooms.

Width: approximately 100cm (39 inches)
Length: from four to 10 meters (4.4 to 10.9 yards)
Weight (per meter) – 2-ply fabric: about 130 grams (4.6 ounces)
Weight (per meter) – 3-ply fabric: about 170 grams (6.0 ounces)

You may order as much silk as you need. However, some constraints apply because of the limitations in the process of weaving the fabric by hand.

The process of setting up the hand-looms requires a minimum length for the warp threads. Four meters (4.4 yards) is the practical minimum length of thread.

The maximum length of fabric is again governed in practice by the size of the loom, and hence the warp. Normally, ten meters (10.9 yards) is the longest practical size for the warp.

If you require more than ten meters of fabric, with no single piece needing to be more than ten meters in length, order multiple lengths of fabric to make up the amount you want. For example, if you want 30 meters of one specific fabric, you could place one single order requesting a Quantity of 30 meters in the online Shopping Cart, and specify three lengths each of 10 meters in the Additional Information in the order form. You will receive three identical ten meter lengths of fabric. Alternatively, you might, for example, want to place three orders of eight meters, plus one order of six meters.

If you require a single continuous piece of fabric longer than ten meters, please contact us to discuss your requirements.
